Membership
Credit Unions are member-owned cooperatives. Unlike a for-profit bank, in which profits go back to a select group of stockholders, credit unions are organized to return all the profits to member-owners in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and lower fees. As member of University Credit Union (UCU), you are actually an owner, you have a voice in everything we do.
Membership Eligibility
Membership is open to
- University of Miami faculty, staff, students, alumni and their immediate families
- UHealth staff and their immediate families
- Florida International University faculty, staff, students, alumni and their immediate families
- St. Thomas University faculty, staff, students, alumni and their immediate families
- Anyone working in the Legal Field in Law Firms, the Court System or in any business that provide services to the legal community in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties
- Anyone working or living in Miami-Dade County

What You'll Need
You’ll need to be 18 years of age or older, and you’ll want to have the following handy to complete the 3-5 minute application:
- a valid driver license or state ID
- your social security number
- a credit or debit card for the initial deposit into your new account
If you lack these documents, do not meet these requirements, or are an existing University Credit Union Member looking to open another account, please contact us at (786) 425-5000.
Once you join the Credit Union you are always a member, even if you leave your job, retire, or move out of the area. All of the benefits of membership are available to you as long as you maintain the required minimum balance in your Share (Savings) account.
